Being a self-published author has many benefits. I have made all of the decisions in creating my book. I’ve had complete creative licence over the words, the flow, the look and feel of my book.

It’s so satisfying to bring something to life that you have nurtured and lovingly cared for over many, many months (actually, years!). I’ve also had the chance to organise and share with my loved ones a beautiful book launch. I wanted a French-themed soiree that really shared the beauty of my travels in France. Doing all of this while working full time has been a big test on my reserves… but I did it. There is something profoundly gratifying when you achieve something so extraordinary that you feel changed by the experience. I am proud of myself and I really like the way that feels.
I love writing. I have a real passion for it. To write and publish a book is a whole new level of achievement for me. The truth is, I never thought I was a talented enough writer to ever realise this dream. Until now.
Something profound happened to me and as part of my healing, I wrote about it. The words flowed out of me like a waterfall and eventually, I crafted my memoir; Wanderlust and Misadventures.
Today, I realised that I am still on a high from this great success. One of those pinch-me moments when you feel you are actually living a dream. It just goes to show how important it is to celebrate the wins in our lives. These moments are the little gems that shine so bright we will always remember them.
I’ve always loved this quote by Ida Scott Taylor.
Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.
How blessed I feel that I have survived a challenging moment in my life and finally found the zest for life I thought was lost forever. How grateful I am for the lessons I’ve learned. How excited I am about my life right now.
