I love the story behind the story of Helen Beatrix Potter (28 July 1866 – 22 December 1943).
Most of you know her as the author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. But there is more to her story.
She was not only an author and illustrator but also natural scientist and conservationist! How cool is that – particularly in “those days”!
As a prize-winning breeder of Herdwick sheep she was focused on land preservation and left most of her property to the National Trust. Bless her!
She published over twenty-three books. This is quite amazing when you consider the years she wrote her books it was scandalous to not only be single but also have a profession at the age of 32. But she stood her ground and made a difference. What an inspiration!
If you are in the UK, you can visit The Beatrix Potter Gallery and see her artwork on display! That’s next on my must do list!
