It’s more important than ever to buy with meaning…

What will come of our economic future?  I am using this time to think outside the square.  It’s time to be creative and seek more for our dollar.  It’s time, more than ever, to shop meaningfully.

So here is my first suggestion.  We all need to carry our things around.  Why not invest in something that has more than one use – and is meaningful?

Origèn Imports Guatemalan bags are made from traditional Mayan fabrics – originally made for ‘Huipils’  (a loose, colourfully embroidered blouse worn by Indian women of Mexico and Guatemala).  The huipil, or vintage blouse, are hand woven and hand embroidered with love.  By transforming these magnificent pieces into beautiful accessories we keep alive techniques that have been passed down  from pre-Hispanic times.

According to the Mayas…

Wearing her huipil, a woman looks like an adult butterfly displaying its beauty. The woman’s head thus becomes the center of the universe

Muchos besos bonita!

It’s multipurpose so I can use it for many occasions.  A grocery shopping bag, an overnight bag or even for work.  Because it is so versatile and strong, it seems to handle anything I throw in it.  And it is still in the best condition with bright vibrant colours after two years!

A meaningful bag, made with traditional Mayan ‘recycled’ pieces, with a meaningful story behind the product.  The perfect fit of goodness and diversity in one purchase!
