Clean up Australia is all about community – and it was wonderful to be part of the community at Rickett’s Point Nature Reserve in Beaumaris. There were many families there doing their part to keep Australia clean!
When I asked my nephew, Ryan, why he was cleaning up he said “I am an animal saver and cleaning up means the animals won’t get hurt”. How amazing is that!
Considering that the area was pretty clean, at the end of there was at least 20 bags half filled with rubbish.
An estimated 591 400 volunteers removed a staggering 16 169 tonnes of rubbish from 7 363 Clean Up Sites across the country. If you want more details on the statistics for the day check out the website!
