Women of Style Awards

by | May 18, 2012 | Events, Loving Life

It’s interesting that we often hear of the ‘celebrity’ who wins awards.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed with Miranda Kerr’s development of Kora Organics as well as her positive healthy image – she’s a wonderful role model for young women today. And I congratulate her on wining the Readers Choice and Beauty categories for InStyle and Audi Women of Style Awards.

Did you know there are some other wonderful women who won categories that the media have not mentioned? I don’t know why this is not more newsworthy so I’m going to share it here.

Two women who also received awards are Alison Thompson for Charity & Community – a humanitarian aid worker and film-maker who is dedicated to making a difference giving her life to volunteering.

Also on this list is Abigail Forsyth for Environment – who co-created KeepCup with her brother, changing the way we purchase our takeaway coffee & chai.  Check out this page for further details or purchase June’s addition of InStyle.

I believe both of these women deserve just as much recognition as any celebrity for their part in making a meaningful difference.

One of my big lessons over the past few years was to let go of the idea of control. We can only control certain aspects of our lives and how we react to situations. In my learning and development world, we call this the Circle of Concern and Influence. Stephen Covey...
